Hunt Queens Bank Bandit

By Liz Goff

Queens detectives are seeking help from the public to identify and locate a suspect sought in connection with a series of holdups at banks throughout the borough.
The suspect struck first on June 2, 2009 when he walked into a CapitalOne Bank branch at 83-24 Queens Blvd., police said. He struck again on June 5, 2009 at a Chase Bank branch at 96-19 101st Ave. and on June 13 at the same CapitalOne branch at 83-24 Queens Blvd.
The suspect hit the same CapitalOne branch again on November 13, police said. Later that day, he hit a Valley National Bank branch at 69-20 80th St.
The same suspect struck again on December 3 at a New York Commercial Bank branch at 97-77 Queens Blvd., police said. He struck twice on December 17, first at a Sovereign Bank at 150-28 Union Tpke. and at an Apple Bank at 102-29 Queens Blvd.
The suspect is described as male, black, 30 to 35 years old, 5 feet, 7 inches tall and 170 pounds, with a medium build.
In each robbery the suspect approached a teller with a note demanding cash. The tellers complied and the suspect fled with an undisclosed amount of cash from each location.
Police are urging anyone with information to call the Crimestoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS. The Hotline is offering a $2,000 reward for anyone with information leading to the arrest and conviction of the suspect.
