Mr. Met Seeking ‘Party People’

By Liz Goff

Mr. Met never travels alone. The much-loved mascot of the Queens Boys of Summer never speaks – he leaves that to his entourage, a squad of Mets’ Party Patrol people who escort him at home and on the road.
When word went out that the Amazins’ mascot is searching for a few good men and women to fill the coveted positions as members of the Mets Pepsi Party Patrol, more than 700 people applied.
Team officials said more than 200 of those applicants showed up at Citi Field on March 5 to interview for the jobs.
Team officials said the Mets Pepsi Party Patrol is like a cheering squad during home games at Citi Field, firing t-shirts out of cannons aimed at fans, standing by Mr. Met at home games and public appearances and speaking for the Queens baseball icon when he meets with fans and the press.
A team spokesperson said interviews for Party Patrollers are underway, but applications are still being accepted.
For information on these and other positions available at Citi Field, visit www.mets.com/citifield.jobs.
