Grammy Award Winning singer John Legend honored the memory of Dr. Martin Luther King at the City Hall ceremony.Grammy Award Winning singer John Legend honored the memory of Dr. Martin Luther King at the City Hall ceremony.Mayor Michael Bloomberg began a series of tributes to Martin Luther King on Monday, January 18 at a City Hall reception. Bloomberg was joined by numerous elected officials and dignitaries, including former Mayor David Dinkins, U. S. Senator Charles E. Schumer, City Council Speaker Christine Quinn, Councilmember Robert Jackson, Police Commissioner Raymond Kelly, Schools Chancellor Joel Klein and Archbishop of the Roman Catholic Church in New York Timothy Dolan. Grammy award-winning singer John Legend was the keynote speaker. 


  A t the 24th Annual MLK Day Tribute at the Brooklyn Academy of Music, award winning actor, director, political activist and spokesperson for UNICEF Danny Glover was the keynote speaker. Glover, known for his feature films, among them “Lethal Weapon”, “Lethal Weapon II” and “The Color Purple”, recently produced “Soundtrack for a Revolution”, a documentary tracing the roots of the civil rights movement, screening at the Brooklyn Academy of Music this week.Actor and spokesperson for UNICEF Danny Glover was the keynote speaker at a Martin Luther King Jr. Day tribute at the Brooklyn Academy of Music on January 18.
