John Liu easily defeated David Yassky in Tuesday’s runoff election of the democratic candidate for city comptroller and Bill de Blasio scored an even more decisive victory over Mark Green to become his party’s candidate for public advocate.

The two elections completed the primary voting and completed the citywide ballots for the November elections.

The mayoral race will top the ballot with Mayor Michael Bloomberg on the Republican line facing Democrat William Thompson Jr.

Liu, a council member from Flushing, will be opposed by Joseph A. Mendola, a Republican, for city comptroller.

De Blasio, a Brooklyn council member, will be opposed by Alex Zablocki on the Republican line.

The voter turnout for the runoff elections was a record low 227,000, but Liu again benefited by his support from the Working Families Party and drew 56 percent of the vote to 44 percent for Yassky.

De Blasio, who also had the backing of the WFP, got 63 percent of the vote to 37 percent for Green.

A victory for Liu in November will make him the first Asian American comptroller in history.
