Burress Indicted On Weapons Charges
     A Manhattan grand jury on August 4 voted to indict former New York Giants 2008 Super Bowl star Plaxico Burress on two counts of weapons possession and one count of dangerous endangerment. Burress faces three and a half to 15 years in jail if convicted on the charges.

     The New York Mets broke the hearts of their loyal fans again as they dropped a squeaker 6-5 to the Arizona Diamondbacks on Monday night, August 3, at Citi Field. The Mets dropped three out of four games to the Diamondbacks, pushing them closer to the cellar in the National League East.

Mets Collapse in 12-7 Loss To St. Louis Cardinals
     The Mets, in fourth place in the NL East, opened a two-game series with the Cardinals who are tied for first place in the NL Central, on Tuesday night, August 4. Mets ace Johan Santana (12-8, 2.96 ERA) faced off against Cardinals starter Joel Pineiro (9-8, 2.84ERA), Pineiro has not lost to the Mets as he boasted a 3-0 record with a 2.91 ERA against the Blue and Orange, including two wins this season.
