A home invasion robbery netted currency, cellphones and what police describe as a quantity of precious metals from a Long Island City apartment within the confines of the 114th Precinct this morning.
According to police, a Hispanic male, five feet, six inches tall and weighing 185 pounds, and four other Hispanic men entered an apartment at 40-19 29th St. at about 7:30 a.m. The first man produced a black firearm and demanded, “Where is the safe?”  One of the suspects struck the one occupant of the apartment at the time several times on the head with a baseball bat.  The suspects tied up the occupant with zip-ties, then ransacked the apartment and fled.  The apartment’s occupant was treated and released at a local hospital.
One suspect’s image was caught on surveillance cameras.
