Cheeburger Cheeburger

Cheeburger Cheeburger

Cheeburger Cheeburger promises something for everyone craving honest, juicy burgers, fresh salads and sandwiches, phenomenal fries and onion rings and a bit of 50's style nostalgia. "Big is Better" is their slogan and if that isn't enough, an amazing selection of 378,000 shakes is available, by choosing combinations of ice cream flavors and add-ins of your liking. We walked into Cheeburger Cheeburger in Forest Hills on a Wednesday evening, when a full blown Family Fun Night was underway. This free event is a favorite among Queens's kids who get free face painting, balloons and magic tricks. I saw several tikes with artistically painted lion faces, puppies, Spidermen and butterfly angels, all proudly showing off their new "looks" to their parents. Adults love Cheeburger too, because the food is great and the kids are happy.

Cheeburger operates so efficiently due to the hard work of George, Socratis and Christos, who opened Cheeburger Cheeburger on June 3rd of last year. These "handson" owners work tirelessly to offer high quality food, a sparkling clean restaurant and a friendly environment for all to enjoy. Indeed you may see a line waiting for tables on the weekends, especially since the Midway Theatre is just next door. I just know that you'll appreciate the 50's retro-style interior, complete with some neon signs, tile walls, chrome tables and

lots of pink accents. The service is friendly and polite and children's meals are served in a clever box shaped like a car.

It all starts with the burgers. Cheeburger Cheeburger is proud to serve 100% premium Black Angus organic burgers, made without hormones or preservatives. To boot, the meat is never frozen and you can really taste the difference in these honest burgers. To

order, first choose the size of the burger you want to tackle, from the classic "Beginner" burger at 5.5 ounces to the most popular "Semi-serious" size at 7 ounces. Next, is the "Serious," the "Delirious," and the famous "Pounder," which is actually 20 ounces (precooked) of exceptionally lean beef, formed by hand so that no two burgers look exactly alike. If you can finish this 20- ounce burger, your picture will be taken and mounted on the "Wall of Fame" with other happy diners. Only their specially baked Kaiser roll is strong enough to hold onto these burgers. But wait, there's more…you can top your burger with your choice of one of 9 cheeses that includes cheddar, bleu, pepper jack and Swiss. Next, choose some toppings from a list of 27 savory additions,

and they're all included in the price of the burger. Every burger is cooked to order, so there's a brief 10-12 minute wait which passed quickly while we sipped on oldfashioned chocolate egg creams. Root beer floats, Dr. Pepper floats, cola, cherry cola or vanilla cola are served in glass mason jars with straws. You can even shake up your own soda at your table, just ask for the flavors on hand.

You shouldn't have a burger without the fries and Cheeburger Cheeburger's delicious French fries and onion rings are made from fresh Idaho potatoes and colossal onions that are hand cut and fried till golden and crispy and sprinkled with their special seasoning mix. The patented batter for the onion rings is a closely held secret and both the fries and rings are offered in small, medium and large family sized portions which are meant to be shared. The combo basket provides the best of both and keeps everyone happy. Five delicious sauces are available to dip your fries and rings into, including sweet pepper, zesty horseradish, creamy jalapeño, cheese sauce and new garden vegetable sauce. These sauces go well on burgers and any of their sandwiches too. Create your own chicken sandwich by choosing among 9 different cheeses and as many toppings as you'd like. My Bleu chicken is one of my favorite sandwiches here, made with their super tender, grilled chicken breast, which is always fresh and never frozen, smothered in a combination of melted Swiss cheese and creamy bleu cheese all on specially baked round bread that toasts up just right ($7.99). A classic chicken melt is also served on tasty round bread, and the grilled chicken breast sandwich is piled onto their famous Kaiser roll with your choice of cheese and toppings ($7.99). The ultimate comfort food, a classic grilled cheese or BLT sandwich, is perfectly executed and will make you sigh with delight. The kids will love the chicken fingers, which are hand-cut, never frozen, real chicken strips that are tender and moist inside and crunchy on the outside. There are 5 to a basket with those fabulous dipping sauces ($10.59). A kid's menu offers 3 to an order for $4.99, plus baby carrots and soft drink. Order "the wedge" which are triangles of fried macaroni and cheese!

Cheeburger Cheeburger prepares gourmet tossed salads using only fresh ingredients. Grilled chicken breast, turkey burger, veggie burger or Portobello mushroom can all be sliced and laid upon a generous bowl of chopped romaine and mixed greens with your choice of additions such as sliced mushrooms, olives, cucumbers, sun-dried tomatoes, nuts, avocado, japaleño peppers, chick peas and more. Create your own masterpiece and top it with your favorite dressing ($9.95).

"Cheewraps" are new on the menu and combine their famous burgers and chicken with your favorite toppings and signature sauces, all wrapped up in a wheat or white tortilla wrap. These wraps need two hands and are very satisfying. Burgers and chicken of all kinds are available on a platter, sans bread, if you're watching your carbs.

Yes, it's true, when you combine the variety of ice cream and the ability to combine them with add-ins of your choice, there are 378,000 possibilities. Peanut butter, Snickers, and Oreo are some of the most popular, though I love mint chip and heath bar crunch. These frosty shakes are available in half size ($4.59) or regular size, served in the metal mixing cup with long straws for $5.59. What could be more romantic than sharing one with your special gal or guy after a movie? Mousse Mountain is their new decadent dessert that features two Oreo wafers filled with peanut butter mousse, topped with vanilla ice cream and drizzled with caramel and chocolate sauce. If that doesn't float your boat, try the classic banana split or ice cream Sundae with all the trimmings.

Cheeburger Cheeburger is open seven days a week from 11am to 11pm weekdays and until 1am on Friday and Saturday nights. The subway is right on the corner and the movie theatre is just down the street. For a unique gift or souvenir, their retail case offers gift cards, T-shirts, caps, mason jar glasses, and their secret blend of seasonings to put on fries. Children's birthday parties can be accommodated on weekdays only. Bring the family any day for lunch, dinner or a frosty shake. Don't forget Wednesday's Family Fun Night. You can place your order on-line for quick delivery or in-store pick up. Big is Better at Cheeburger Cheeburger!
