Mayor Michael Bloomberg and UCCA honoree Pearl Salerno. The United Community Civic Association (UCCA) held their annual BBQ on Thursday, June 18 at Central Bar & Lounge in Astoria. UCCA honored Queens District Attorney Richard A. Brown and UCCA Founder and First Vice President Pearl Salerno. Mayor Michael Bloomberg was a surprise guest. He made an appearance at the event and spoke to the gathered crowd. Several hundred supporters attended the BBQ. Rose Marie Poveromo, president of UCCA, thanked all who participated in the special event. She also praised the honorees and introduced them to the audience.
