El Paquetazo Offers English, Spanish Choices For New Yorkers

Time Warner Cable's New York City Region has launched El Paquetazo, a digital video package with a mix of English and Spanish-language channels designed to appeal to a wide base of New York City's Latino residents.

El Paquetazo is an attractively priced package designed to meet the evolving interests of the Latino cable viewer in New York City. It combines the "best-of" Spanish-language channels with popular English-language networks, all for under $35 a month. El Paquetazo offers Time Warner Cable customers access to the best blend of programming in the market and consists of 40 Spanish language and more than 80 English language networks and 18 high definition channels that are conveniently organized by genre including sports, news and music.

"All New Yorkers bridge many worlds. This new programming option reflects the bicultural landscape of which so many Americans are a part," Time Warner Cable Regional President of Residential Services Jeffrey Hirsch said. "Today's announcement is exciting because it demonstrates how Time Warner Cable is customizing video packages that appeal to bicultural communities. For almost one-third of our residents, Spanish is spoken fluently, and we understand these households want programming that reflects their lives - a mix of Spanish and English. This package offers just that - a wide spectrum of programming at a great value."

Time Warner Cable's New York City region serves more than 1.4 million customers in four New York City boroughs (Manhattan, Queens, Staten Island and Western Brooklyn), Mount Vernon in Westchester County, Hudson Valley (Orange, Sullivan, Ulster Counties and parts of Dutchess, Greene and Delaware Counties) and Bergen and Hudson Counties, New Jersey. Cable customers have exclusive access to NY1 Noticias, a 24-hour Spanish language news channel serving New York City, along with access to Spanish-language Web site content and Spanish-speaking customer care associates.
