Film By Egyptian Dancer To Air On QPTV
Layla Taj, an Egyptian dance star who has landed numerous contracts as a belly dancer in five-star hotels in Egypt and Dubai and performed for kings of countries and world travelers, has returned to Queens after living abroad in the Middle East since 2003. Known as "Goodwill Ambassador for Egyptian Culture" through her dance, she brings with her world-class experience and authentic Arabic entertainment, which dance enthusiasts most desire. Taj's multimedia cultural program on Egyptian dance has been receiving rave reviews throughout Long Island.
Taj also produced and narrated a documentary style short film of the ancient and modern dances of Egypt, some of which go back to Biblical times. The film includes historical portraiture, art, Egyptian legends such as Oum Kalthoum and short clips of the dancers. This film can be seen on Queens Public Television (QPTV) at 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday May 19 on Time Warner Cable Channel 35 or RCN Channel 83.
