Gianaris Meets With Richard Ravitch To Address Mass Transit Challenges

In the wake of the MTA proposing its "Doomsday Budget," Assemblyman Michael Gianaris (DQueens) met with Richard Ravitch (r.) on Thursday, February 19, to discuss public transit challenges in Astoria and the steps that might be taken to find the resources necessary to avoid service cuts and improve accessibility without imposing new bridge tolls. Ravitch, a former chairman of the MTA, is the leader of the state commission charged with recommending strategies to fund MTA capital projects and operating needs over the next ten years.
