Construction Of Kosciuszko Bridge Replacement To Start
      The official news about the Kosciuszko Bridge is that after years of deliberation between communities in Queens and Brooklyn and such state agencies as the Departments of Transportation and Environmental Conservation, it has been decided the 70-year-old span over Newtown Creek will be replaced by a new bridge, to be constructed while the old one is still in use.

      Early last week one of the three people who founded the Gazette died. Roger Laghezza, with George Stamatiades and Judy Weiner-Jackson, in 1982 saw the need for a newspaper to inform and assist residents of the Dutch Kills area of Long Island City.

Advice was exchanged on home remedies, including using vegetables to produce beautiful skin and the benefits of ginger in beating the common cold.

Collision Sends Car Through Bakery Front Window
     Photo Tony Barsamian A GMC Envoy sports utility vehicle and a BMW sedan collided on Broadway near 63rd Street on Monday, February 9, sending the Envoy into La Abundicia bakery and restaurant at 63-10 Broadway. Bystanders reported that drivers of both vehicles appeared to have sustained some injuries.

      Queens law enforcement officials are warning residents to pull the plug on a door-todoor scam that promises lower energy bills. The scammers, in an attempt to lure customers away from Con Edison, are ringing bells at homes and apartments throughout Western Queens, offering rock-bottom gas and electric rates through several energy service companies, officials said.
