John D. McMahon Named Con Ed Executive Vice President
John D. McMahon was recently named Con Edison executive vice president. John D. McMahon has been named executive vice president of Con Edison. He had been serving as president and chief executive officer of Con Edison, Inc.'s subsidiary, Orange and Rockland Utilities, Inc.
In his new role as executive vice president of the New York City and Westchester utility, McMahon will oversee the general counsel's office and also will be responsible for regulatory services and energy efficiency programs.
Prior to being named as president and CEO of Orange and Rockland in January 2003, McMahon had served as Con Edison's senior vice president and general counsel for four and a half years, having progressed through a series of increasingly responsible positions within the utility's law department, where he developed and honed an expertise in utility industry restructuring. He started his Con Edison career as an attorney in the rate proceedings department in 1976.
McMahon is active in community and professional organizations and serves on the board of directors of the Rockland Economic Development Corporation, the board of the New Jersey Utilities Association, and the Ramapo College Foundation board of governors.
He is a graduate of Manhattan College and New York Law School, and has completed the Harvard Business School advanced management program.
