14-Year-Old Former Astorian In 'Doubt'

Ariana Silvestro, a former resident of Astoria who attended P.S. 2 in Jackson Heights, has aspired to acting since she was a mere child. A singer, dancer, actor Ariana has studied with Variations in Huntington, Long Island, Steps in Manhattan, Landrum School of Dance in Whitestone, Camp Broadway in Manhattan and Lisa Regina, a private coach, in New York.

Silvestro, a lead extra, plays the part of a student of Sister James, performed by Amy Adams.

Based on a Pulitzer Prize winning play, "Doubt" centers on a nun who confronts a priest after suspecting him of abusing a student. Lead actors Meryl Streep, Sister Aloysius Beauvier, the iron-gloved principal, who tries to maintain fear and discipline in the school, Philip Seymour Hoffman plays Father Flynn and Viola Davis the mother of the alleged abused student, star in this gripping drama set in 1964. "Doubt" has been nominated for five Golden Globe Awards.

Silvestro currently lives in Plainview, Long Island with her parents and sister and plans to continue her acting career.
