Borden Avenue Bridge Closed For 6 Months
      The Borden Avenue Bridge in Long Island City closed at noon Dec. 31, 2008 and will remain closed through July 2009 for a reconstruction project, according to an announcement from the New York City Department of Transportation (DOT). The decision was made after studies of one of the bridge's abutment walls showed a need for expedited repair.
