It's Your Park On The LIC/Astoria Waterfront Green Shores NYC is holding their event Saturday, May 17, 1-5 p.m., rain or shine to discover what's available in the local parks, what's planned for the Queens East River Greenway, and to meet and greet your neighbors at Rainey Park, 34th Avenue at Vernon Boulevard. There will be free kayaking, sponsored by the Long Island City Community Boat House, fishing with "I Fish NY", Cat-Gut a live, blue grass band and DJ Hank Pollard, both homegrown in Astoria. Green Shores NYC: The Astoria-LIC Waterfront Parks Alliance is a coalition of individuals, community groups and local businesses who have joined together to improve and promote the waterfront parks and shoreline. They sponsor events to beautify and maintain the parks and organize recreational and educational activities for adults and children.
