Astoria Jazz Band Peforms May 9 and May 18
Saxophonist Carol Sudhalter's jazz band has always brought some of the most talented women artists to Queens. On May 9, at a mid-day concert, Julie Mandel and Emme Kemp will perform at Queens College, LeFrak Theatre, 65-30 Kissena Blvd., Flushing. The following Sunday, May 18, Sudhalter's 10-piece band will perform an array of works by Queens women composer/performers from Billie Holiday to the late Jutta Hipp at the Steinway Reformed Church, 41st Street at Ditmars Boulevard. Concerts are handicap accessible. Tickets for the May 9 event are free, but May 18 will cost $15. For tickets and information, call 718-278-5331.
