Onorato Gets Bus Shelter For Astoria Seniors

Not long ago, a constituent of state Senator George Onorato suggested to the legislator that a bus shelter on the east side of the intersection of 21st Street and 30th Drive would be a great convenience for the residents of the Astoria Senior Residence, which is situated on the grounds of the Salah M. Hassanein Variety Boys and Girls Club of Queens. Onorato agreed and, working with the city Department of Transportation, made every effort to arrange for the structure. On Thursday, April 24, Onorato met with local officials and area residents to celebrate the fact that the shelter had been put in place during the last month and was already seeing heavy use. Taking personal pride in the facility, Onorato wiped some graffiti off the shelter with a napkin.
