The Leadership Lunch Club at P.S. 112 in Long Island City ran a school-wide Penny Harvest with the help of the non-profit organization Common Centers. More than 200 public school students in the third through fifth grades raised $1,000, which they donated to fund breast health initiatives at Mount Sinai Hospital of Queens at a school-wide assembly Monday, April 14. The students also made pillows, which they presented to hospital officials at the ceremony. In return, hospital officials gave out translucent navy blue piggy banks to the students to encourage them to save their pennies and remind them that Mount Sinai Hospital of Queens serves the community in which they live.
