Lawmakers Join In Greek Independence Day Parade

New York City's annual Greek Independence Day Parade celebrates Greece's independence from the Ottoman Empire. This year's parade was held Sunday, April 6 on Fifth Avenue in Manhattan. Among those marching was Assemblymember Michael Gianaris (D-Queens), the first Greek-American elected official from New York. Also marching were New York City Councilmember Peter Vallone Jr. and New York City Comptroller William Thompson Jr.
