Every month is a month of celebration at Mount Sinai Hospital of Queens. With so many healthcare professionals providing excellent care and those patients responding with positive feedback, it's easy to find many reasons to celebrate.

March is Social Work Month, and it's important to highlight the contributions of social workers, as they are often unsung heroes in providing quality care. Social workers focus on the emotional and social well being of patients during their stay in the hospital as well as beyond discharge, making sure they are well connected within their families and communities. Providing tools, resources and options as well as helpful advice, social workers go the extra mile to touch the lives of patients.

One of the unique things that social workers at Mount Sinai Hospital of Queens do is to help patients to celebrate their birthdays while in the hospital! Every day of the week, including weekends, the social work team keeps watch on the birth dates of each patient. Anyone who has a birthday while a patient is presented with a plush teddy bear wearing a Mount Sinai Hospital of Queens tee shirt and staff wish them the best on their special day.
