Markey Honors 12 Local Women
Assemblymember Margaret Markey last Friday, March 14 presented 12 Queens women with her 2008 "Women of Distinction" Awards, saluting them for outstanding volunteer service to the community in a ceremony at her 30th Assembly District office, 53- 19 69th St., Maspeth. Each of the honorees was nominated by a local community and civic organiz ation. Organizations making nominations included the Central Astoria Local Development Coalition (CALDC), Community Board 2, Maspeth Town Hall, Woodside Senior Center, the United Forties Civic Association, Community Board 1, St. Mary's Golden Age Church, Selfhelp Maspeth Senior Center, C.O.M.E.T, the Dutch Kills Civic Association, the Maspeth Chamber of Commerce, Woodside on the Move and the Middle Village Maspeth Civic Association.
