New Parkway Hospital Emerges From Bankruptcy The New Parkway Hospital officially exited from bankruptcy on Thursday, February 28, when a notice of effective date was filed with the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of New York. This marks the hospital's successful reorganization and indicated that Parkway, which had been under bankruptcy protection for almost three years, has emerged a stronger, better and more efficient institution. During the three years it was in bankruptcy protection, the hospital has added a number of new services and programs. It has continued consistently to achieve scores for the best emergency room turnaround time in the borough of Queens (as per official EMS reports). Further, the hospital has significantly reduced its "length of stay", and at the same time, improved patient outcomes. Dr. Robert J. Aquino, New Parkway CEO and president, thanked "all the people who believed in and supported us through this difficult time". He expressed optimism about the future of the hospital. "Parkway is now in a position to become one of the region's premier hospitals," he declared. "I look forward to making some exciting and important new announcements in the very near future."
