114th Precinct Blotter At about 11:15 a.m. on Friday, February 22, police of the 114th Precinct responded to 40-15 10th St., Long Island City, to investigate a report of an emotionally disturbed person. They determined that a male suspect was barricaded inside a sixth floor apartment and was holding a three-year-old child hostage inside. A strong odor of fuel was present at the location and the building was evacuated. Five hours later, at about 3 p.m., 38- year-old Vincent Ricks was arrested and the young hostage released unharmed. Ricks, also a resident of the building, was charged with unlawful imprisonment and reckless endangerment. 114th Police Precinct Blotter Highlights Monday, February 18: • A 22-year-old Hispanic male was charged with resisting arrest and disorderly conduct after he was acting disorderly and obstructing vehicular traffic and then punched a victim's vehicle at 37th Avenue and 33rd Street. • A 24-year-old black male was charged with criminal possession of a weapon and having an open container of an alcoholic beverage in public after he was observed at 31st Avenue and Steinway Street drinking liquor in public and upon further investigation, was found to be concealing a knife in a comb located in his jacket. • A 26-year-old white male was observed inside 27-10 30th Ave. without permission and was charged with criminal trespass. Tuesday, February 19: • Two Hispanic males 19 and 20 years old were charged with criminal possession of marijuana after they were found in possession of marijuana in public at 26- 50 Borough Pl. • An 18-year-old black male was charged with criminal possession of marijuana after he was observed smoking marijuana in public at 39th Avenue and 29th Street. On further investigation, he was also found to be wanted on an active warrant. • A 54-year-old black female was charged with trademark counterfeiting, criminal possession of a controlled substance, unlicensed operator and failure to disclose an original document after she was observed at 30-52 Vernon Blvd. operating a vehicle without a license and selling counterfeit DVDs from within it. • Six males- three Asian 39, 48 and 50 years old, two Hispanic, 32 and 59 years old and one of undetermined ethnicity 44 years old- were found to be in possession of stolen property at 31-35 Steinway St. All six were charged with criminal possession of stolen property. Wednesday, February 20: • A 40-year-old Asian female was charged with assault and harassment after she punched and attempted to choke a victim. The incident took place at 20-32 31st St. • A 21-year-old black male was charged with obstructing governmental administration and public urination after he was observed urinating in public on a sidewalk at 35th Avenue and Steinway Street. On further investigation, he was also found to be wanted on an active warrant. • A 33-year-old white female was charged with criminal contempt after she threatened a victim, thereby violating a valid order of protection. The incident took place at 33-17 Broadway. • A 60-year-old white male was charged with assault and harassment after he slapped a victim in the face at 28-24 42nd St. • A 54-year-old white male punched a machine at 22-72 31st St., causing damage to the screen, and was charged with criminal mischief. • A 30-year-old Hispanic male threatened a victim with a firearm at Northern Boulevard and Broadway and was charged with menacing and harassment. Thursday, February 21: • A 19-year-old Hispanic male was charged with assault and harassment after he punched a victim at 35th Avenue and 42nd Street • Two males 20 and 24 years old were charged with obstructing governmental administration and disorderly conduct after they were observed fighting in public and blocking pedestrian traffic at Astoria Boulevard and Steinway Street. • A 26-year-old Hispanic male was charged with having as open container of an alcoholic beverage in public after he was observed drinking beer in public at 31st Avenue and 14th Street and on further investigation, was found to be wanted on an active warrant. Saturday, February 23: • A 19-year-old Hispanic male was observed failing to signal upon repeatedly changing lanes. When he was stopped at 30-80 31st St., he and two black males 25 and 33 years old were found in possession of marijuana, open containers of beer and a knife. Further investigation revealed the 19-year-old Hispanic male was wanted on an active warrant. All three were charged with bail jumping, criminal possession of a weapon, criminal possession of marijuana, having an improper license, making an illegal signal and drinking alcohol in a vehicle on a highway • A 24-year-old Hispanic male was charged with criminal possession of marijuana after he was observed with marijuana in public at Queens Plaza North and 22nd Street. • A 21-year-old white male was charged with disorderly conduct after he was observed fighting in public and blocking pedestrian traffic at 32nd Street and Broadway. Sunday, February 24: • An 18-year-old Asian male and a 21-year-old white male were charged with criminal mischief and disorderly conduct after they fought with security at 25-22 34th Ave. broke a metal railing belonging to another person without permission. • A 22-year-old Hispanic male was charged with disorderly conduct after he was observed fighting at Ditmars Boulevard and 45th Street. • A 20-year-old Hispanic male was charged with obstructing governmental administration, resisting arrest and disorderly conduct after he attempted to prevent the arrest of another person and refused to leave the corner of Ditmars Boulevard and 45th Street. • A 25-year-old white male was charged with disorderly conduct after he was observed using obscene language in public at 31st Avenue and 42nd Street and on further investigation, was found to be wanted on two active warrants. • A 30-year-old Hispanic male was charged with assault and harassment after he punched a victim in the face and back at Northern Boulevard and Steinway Street. • A 27-year-old Hispanic male was charged with menacing after he threatened a victim with a folding knife at 30-76 Steinway St. • A 57-year-old Hispanic male was charged with assault after he struck a victim in the head with a hammer twice.
