Protests Pothole

The city street is sinking yet again near the manhole cover located between the following addresses:

31-42 76th St. 31-39 76th St. 31-44 76th St. 31-41 76th St. 31-46 76th St.

31-43 76th St.

Why? Because, once again, huge delivery trucks from the Dante's Shopping Center are ILLEGALLY using 76th Street as a route from 31st Ave. to Northern Blvd.

Cars hit that sinking hole in the city street with a loud bang dozens of times per day. Some of them skid out afterwards. I am certain that someone will eventually be injured when they lose control of a vehicle after hitting that sinking street, especially on rainy or snowy days.

Is the city going to wait for an accident to happen....for someone to get killed.... for the water main to break for the 3rd time due to the vibrations and damage more property.... or are they going to remedy the problem by fixing the street and blocking it from oversized and commercial vehicles, as it is by law in the first place???

As you are aware, I have been fighting this losing battle with the city for many years. All they do is drop a patch of asphalt on the hole and they NEVER enforce the fact that trucks, buses, and oversize vehicles are NOT permitted to drive up 76th Street between 31st Ave. and 32nd Ave. Check the books- it is there, but they ignore it. Wouldn't this be good revenue for the city if they ticketed these drivers? Perhaps that might discourage them from illegally using this street and causing further damage, too!!!

The bottom line is: How are we going to stop the illegal flow of oversize vehicles using 76th Street? Who is going to take the responsibility to initiate this action and enforcement??? Connie Ericson
