Borough-Wide Blotter Things Don't Go Better With 'Coke' Queens narcotics officers busted a seemingly normal Queens family on February 15 for running a cocaine business out of their Woodhaven home. Police said for some 20 years, Jose Castano, 55, and his wife Myriam Castano-Valencia, 54, peddled cocaine from their home on 90th Street "by word of mouth." Also charged was the couple's son, Anthony Castano, 17, and daughter Hillen Castano, 22, along with a son-in-law, Robert Brennan, 25, who police said participated in the family-run business. Police claimed the narcotics officers made nine undercover buys from December 2007 to February 2008, "scored" up to 75 grams of cocaine at a time from different family members. The family customized an SUV with a hidden compartment to store drugs they sold on the street, or delivered to pre-arranged locations. The officers who raided the home seized more than 12 ounces of high-quality cocaine, estimated to be worth more than $7,000 on the street. Police said the officers were shocked to find the home immaculately clean and filled with religious items. "It looked like these people were living like the Brady Bunch," said a police source. All five family members were charged with the sale and possession of cocaine. 105th Precinct Bar Brawl Gets 19-year-old Busted Police arrested a 19-year-old Bayside man last week, charged with throwing a glass tabletop at another teen during a brawl at a Douglaston bar. Purportedly Johnnh Antonioli and a group of teens got into a dispute with the victim on February 2, at Brownstone's Lounge on Douglaston Parkway at 240th Street. Antonioli allegedly struck the 18-year-old victim with a bottle during the melee, while several other teens in his group beat the victim and punched him in the head. Police claimed Antonioli tossed a glass tabletop at the victim, who required stitches to close a wound he suffered in the attack. The teen also suffered a fractured nose and a deep chest wound. Antonioli was charged with assault and harassment while police continue to search for his accomplices. Anyone with information on the other suspects is urged to call the Crimestoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS. 110th Precinct Have You Seen This Man? Police officials last week released a sketch of a suspect sought in connection with the January 12 murder of a Flushing man. They claimed the suspect punched Willie McEntire, 51, who fell to the ground and hit his head that resulted in fatal injuries. McEntire passed away several days later at Elmhurst Hospital Center, after his family decided to remove him from life support, police said. The suspect is described as in his 30s, 5-feet- 10-inches tall and about 230 pounds. He was wearing a hooded jacket at the time of the attack, police said. Anyone with information on the suspect is urged to call the Crimestoppers Hotline at 1-800- 577-TIPS. The Hotline is offering a $2,000 reward to anyone with information leading to the arrest and conviction of the suspect. Chinese New Year Celebrated In Jail Police arrested a drunken motorist on February 12 after he ran a stop sign in Elmhurst and almost slammed his car into a police vehicle. Hua Lu, 45, was driving his 2003 Lincoln Town Car at about 4:30 a.m., celebrating the Chinese New Year, when he blew through a stop sign on 92nd Street and 54th Avenue. When police pulled him over about a block from the stop sign, Lu told them he had a few beers to celebrate the New Year. A subsequent Breathalyzer test revealed that Lu's blood-alcohol content was .113, well above the legal limit, police said. A check of DMV records also indicated Lu's driver's license had been suspended six days earlier. Lu was charged with DWI, aggravated unlicensed driving and running a stop sign, police said. Four Jackets Are Better Than One? Police arrested a 39-year-old Queens man on February 13 after he was caught stealing four leather jackets from the JCPenny store at the Queens Center Mall. Police said Jeffery White was spotted on Wednesday, walking into a fitting room at the store with the jackets. Moments later, he attempted to walk out of the store. wearing all four jackets. A store security guard spotted White's activity on a surveillance tape ran after him and recovered three of the jackets. Police sources said White was apparently able to ditch one of the jackets before the security guard caught up with him. White was charged with petit larceny and criminal possession of stolen property. 115th Precinct Used Credit Card From Stolen Wallet Gets JH Man Arrested Police arrested a 48-year-old man at his Jackson Heights home on February 12 and charged him with using the credit card from a wallet he stole. Police said Albert Dispinseri allegedly stole a wallet lost by a 56-year-old man in the Best Buy store on 50th Street and Northern Boulevard at approximately 11 a.m. on December 2. Dispinseri used the credit card from the wallet about 30 minutes later, to purchase $150 worth of items at a nearby Modell's store. Investigators tracked subsequent activity on the card, which led them to Dispinseri last Tuesday, police said. |
