Felix Farenga, Funeral Director, WW II Vet, Dies

Felix Farenga, a New York State Licensed Funeral Director and former president of Joseph Farenga & Sons Funeral Home, Astoria, died February 5 in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. He was 80 years old.

Farenga, who saw service in the United States Navy during World War II, was the father of Kathy Farenga and Carol Farenga Fraga, father-in-law of José Fraga and grandfather of Erica and Katerina. His wife, Maria, died in 2005 at age 73.

Active in many civic and professional groups throughout his life, Farenga was a past president of the Astoria Civic Association and a member of the Knights of Columbus, the Lions Club and the Holy Name and Nocturnal Adoration Societies.

The family received visitors at Joseph Farenga & Sons Funeral Home, 38-08 Ditmars Blvd., Astoria, on Saturday, February 9 and Sunday, February10. After a Funeral Mass at 9:45 a.m. on Monday, February 11 at St. Francis of Assisi Roman Catholic Church, 32-27 32nd St., Astoria, Farenga was entombed at Ferncliff Cemetery in Hartsdale, Westchester County.
