Now Get E-ZPass Applications In Queens

MTA Bridges and Tunnels has made it more convenient than ever to sign up for an EZPass account by making applications available at the New York State Department of Motor Vehicles' (DMV) following locations: College Point DMV, 30-56 Whitestone Expwy., Flushing and NYS DMV Jamaica District Office, 168-46 91st Ave., Jamaica.

E-ZPass tag holders save money, time and gas- no more waiting in cash lanes- when crossing MTA's nine bridges and tunnels. MTA facilities, which connect the five boroughs of New York City, include the Triborough, Throgs Neck, Bronx-Whitestone, Henry Hudson, Verrazano-Narrows, Cross Bay Veterans Memorial and Marine Parkway- Gil Hodges Bridges, and the Queens Midtown and Brooklyn-Battery Tunnels. A share of toll money goes toward public mass transit maintenance and improvement.

Customers can open an account using a credit card, check or cash for an initial amount of $25. There is a $10 tag deposit, which is waived for credit card customers. New residents, those registering a vehicle, getting a license, anyone with business to conduct at the DMV, can pick up an application, fill it out, mail it and soon start gaining the E-ZPass advantages.

E-ZPass is also good at 22 agencies across the eastern United States, from New York to Illinois and Maine to Virginia. "We are always looking for ways to benefit our Bridges and Tunnels customers," said the agency's Acting President David Moretti. "The most efficient way to gain cost savings is through the E-ZPass discount."

The E-ZPass customer base has grown steadily each year since MTA introduced the technology to New York City motorists in 1995. Current total E-ZPass market share is a success story with 74 percent of its 830,000 customers using the device. Increased EZPass usage is also good for New York and surrounding areas- faster moving traffic flowing through toll lanes is better for the environment.
