Six players scored in double figures, and two recorded double-doubles, as the York College men's basketball team easily defeated Medgar Evers College, 81-54, in a City University of New York (CUNYAC) Athletic Conference match up.

Chris Roberts netted 10 points and had 13 rebounds and Omari Phipps netted 11 points and pulled down 12 boards. Aaron Wilson scored a team-high 15 points, while Marcel Esonwune added 10 points, seven rebounds, and three blocks. Mark Hill had 13 points off the bench, and Michael Salamanca also finished with 13 points, as well as seven assists and six rebounds.

York was never really threatened in this game. The Cardinals were already up by 13 points, 27-14, just a little more than 10 minutes into the game. They led by as many as 18 points in the first half before the Cougars cut the lead to nine points, 35-26, before halftime.

In the second half, the Cardinals extended their lead to 21 points on a three-pointer by Salamanca with 13:16 remaining. Medgar Evers had one last run in them, as they cut the lead to eight points with 8:19 left to play. However, the Cardinals rebounded quickly with a 14-0 run that was capped by a Hill three-pointer. York closed the game with their biggest lead of the night, 27 points, after two free throws by Elvis Hernandez.

York improves to 15-7, 8-3 in the CUNYAC. They will visit New York City Tech today, February 6, at 7 p.m.
