Wants No Fed Ex
A copy of the following letter was received by the Gazette
Hon. Patricia Acampora, Chair
New York State Public Service
Commission
3 Empire State Plaza

Albany, New York 12223-1350
Dear Chairwoman Acampora:

Please be advised that the Astoria Civic Association, one of the largest in the state of New York, and representing thousands of families in Northwest Queens, joins with the elected officials of our area and Community Board #1, Queens in opposing Con Ed's plan to sell its property for use as a Federal Express ground facility, further inundating our community with truck traffic.

As you already know, our community suffers with most of the power plants that supply electricity to New York City, and deserves much better treatment from Con Ed. Its surplus property should be used for community facilities, and not further obnoxious uses.

You will recall that 250,000 of our neighbors were without electricity for ten days not too long ago, caused by the neglect and irresponsible actions of Con Ed, and we very much appreciate your efforts to hold it accountable and prevent this travesty from happening again.

Please use your good offices to have Con Ed block this further blight on its neighbors, and make it help our neighborhood instead of inflicting more harm.

Thank you so much for your continued assistance.
Very truly yours,
Eartha Washington
President
Astoria Civic Association
