Michael Salamanca finished just three rebounds shy of a triple-double to lead the York College men's basketball team to a 76-59 win over John Jay College. Salamanca finished with 11 points, 11 assists, and seven rebounds as York picked up its fourth straight win. Aaron Wilson netted a seasonhigh 23 points and Omari Phipps also had 19 points and eight rebounds for the Cardinals.

After falling behind by five, 11-5, five minutes into the game, the Cardinals turned it up and never looked back. A three-pointer by Salamanca with 13:28 to play in the half gave York a 13-11 lead. York then continued to extend its lead throughout the first half. The Cardinals took a 13-point lead, for a 33-20 score into the locker room.

It was more of the same in the second half as the Cardinals shot lights-out from the field. York shot 57.7 percent in the second half and 53.8 percent for the game. The Cardinals took their biggest lead of the game, 49-27, on another three-pointer by Salamanca with 12:18 to play in the game. The Bloodhounds were able to pull within 12 points before York pulled away once again.

John Jay's Gary Brady led the Bloodhounds with 13 points and Vaughn Mason added 12 points.

The Cardinals improve to 13-6, 6-2 in the CUNYAC. York will be idle until January 26 when the Cardinals visit Brooklyn College at 3 p.m.
