DA's Office Holds Toy Drive
As happy to be giving the toys surrounding him to needy children as the children will be to play with them, Queens District Attorney Richard Brown hails another overwhelmingly successful toy drive coordinated by his Counsel, Lois Raff. The drive began immediately after the Thanksgiving holiday and was conducted at three of the District Attorney's offices in Queens. The annual Yuletide toy drive by the Office of Queens District Attorney Richard A. Brown has resulted in the donation of several hundred toys that will be distributed to needy children.
The toy drive began after the Thanksgiving holiday with collection boxes placed in corridors at three office sites: 125-01 and 120-55 Queens Blvd. and 80-02 Kew Gardens Rd. The drive was coordinated by District Attorney's Counsel Lois Raff with the assistance of Executive Assistant District Attorney for Special Prosecutions Jesse Sligh and their staff members. Robby Chin and Felix Martinez, of Special Prosecutions made the deliveries, transforming the office van into a sleigh on wheels.
Toys were donated to the Lawrence Nursing Care Center and the Community Church of the Nazarene, both of Far Rockaway; Centro Hispano "Cuzcatlan" in Jamaica and the Cambria Heights Community Church.
"In these tough economic times, I am especially proud of the generosity and thoughtfulness of so many staff members who chose to donate a non-violent toy so that needy children could share in the spirit of the season," Brown said. "Their giving and sharing during the holidays is a bright and shining reflection of their devotion to public service."
