St. John's Prep's Vasquez Is 1st In 2,500-Meter Run
     St. John's Prep Freshman and Honors English Student Gabriel Vasquez placed first in the Boys' 2,500- Meter Run at the CHSAA Freshman and Sophomore Intersectional Championship meet at Van Cortlandt Park on November 1. Running in a field of top runners from New York City and Long Island high schools, Vasquez' time of 8:30.86 was not only a personal best, but also shattered his own school record by 34 seconds.

Free USTA Winter Tennis For Kids
      Beginning Jan. 10, 2009 the New York Junior Tennis League early morning, winter program offers free tennis to young people ages 6 to18 in Queens. Trained coaches will provide a comprehensive schedule of instruction, practice and play for all skill levels at the indoor tennis club throughout the winter months.

St. John's Trounces NJIT, Shatters Backboard At Home
      St. John's entered the game against winless New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT) on Monday, December 8, on a four-game winning streak at their newly renovated Lew Carnesecca Arena. St. John's came into this contest with a 6-1 record while NJIT is 0-7 this season and has lost the last 40 games in a row, going back to the 2007- 2008 season.
