Markey Celebrates Assembly Win

Assemblymember Margaret Markey was returned to the state legislature in last Tuesday's general election with 68 percent of the 30th Assembly District vote to opponent Anthony Nunziato's 32 percent. Congressmember Joseph Crowley saluted her at a victory party at the American Legion post on Grand Avenue in Maspeth. "I am deeply grateful for this vote of confidence from the people of the 30th Assembly District and I want you to know that this tremendous victory was the result of the hard work of all of you in this room," Markey told supporters. "New York faces many challenges over the months to come, beginning with the special session of the legislature that will take place later this month. As we move ahead, job preservation and development and the continuation of important community programs for families, seniors and youth will be my highest priorities."
