The 114th Civilian Observation Patrol (Civ-OP) will hold its annual awards ceremony on Wednesday, October 15, at Riccardo's, 21-01 24th Ave., Astoria, from 6 to 10 p.m. Tickets for the event, which will include a buffet dinner with DJ entertainment, will be $50 each.To purchase tickets, call 718-728-8763.

At the festivities, 114th Civ-OP members' dedicated efforts and achievements over the past year will be recognized as they are honored with a brief awards ceremony and slide show. Susan Hengler will receive the Chief James Tuller Award; Peter Cassulis the Inspector Brian McCarthy Award; Abdur Rachman the Detective Ralph H. Barberio Award; Peter Trilivas the Police Officer Daniel Tirelli Award, and Maria Catinella the Deputy Inspector David P. Barrere Award.

Awards will also be conferred on area residents and civic activists, including Maureen Gelchion of Astoria Dance Centre, who will receive the Walter M. Michie Award; Danielle Mahoney of Seeds of Love Cares, who will receive the Det. Lynda Marmara Award; James Bello of the 114th Precinct Explorers, who will receive the Sergeant Dwayne Palmer Award; Tony Siano of the Astoria/LIC Kiwanis, to receive the P.O. Bill Nilsson Award; Stephanie Cortez of the Sala M. Hassanein Variety Boys & Girls Club of Queens, to receive the Matt J. Koraus Award, and Police Officer Mike Rossello of the 114th Precinct to receive the Assemblyman Denis J. Butler Award. The 114th Civ-OP's Presidential Lifetime Achievement Awards will be presented to Edwin Cadiz, photographer, and Susan Robotti of the Variety Boys & Girls Club of Queens. This year the 114th Civ- OP will also initiate a new namesake tribute, the Tony Siano Humanitarian Award.

The organization strives to create an evening where everyone who attends can share in the celebration of the rewards and benefits their volunteer work brings to this community. The namesake awards are presented by most of the people for whom they are named, which brings many special visitors to the ceremony.
