Hitchcock Film Screening Benefits RMcD House

The 1959 action/adventure film "North by Northwest", starring Cary Grant and directed by Alfred Hitchcock, will be shown at the Midway Theatre in Forest Hills on Tuesday, September 23 at 8 p.m. While the film will be shown free to the public on a first-come basis, patrons will be asked to make a donation to support the Ronald McDonald House of Long Island.

This special event has been organized by local resident and community leader Stephen Melnick and the Forest Hills Chamber of Commerce. This is the third year that Melnick has teamed up with Regal Entertainment to conduct such an event. Last year's movie night brought in 62 guests and $1,000. It is hoped that this year will be even more successful.

"I have always had a special place in my heart for the Ronald McDonald House and Alfred Hitchcock films," Melnick said. "We are grateful for the continued support and commitment of Regal Entertainment, benefiting Forest Hills and the Ronald McDonald House of Long Island."

The Midway Theatre seats 250 people and is owned and operated by Regal Entertainment. The theater was named after the Battle of Midway, a decisive turning point in favor of the U.S. in World War II. It is located at 108-22 Queens Blvd. in the heart of Forest Hills.

The Ronald McDonald House of Long Island is a home away from home for families who are caring for seriously ill children undergoing medical treatment in area hospitals. Located on the campus of Schneider Children's Hospital, the House accommodates families in a warm and supportive environment. Since it opened in 1986, more than 12,000 families from the United States and more than 80 countries around the world have been served. Many of the families are from Queens, Suffolk and Nassau Counties, as well as the surrounding metropolitan area.
