Memorial Day was celebrated all across the United States and locally in Woodside to honor the men and women who gave their lives for America and also to remember the men and women who are currently serving in the Gulf War in Iraq and pray that they come home safe and sound to their families. Woodside celebrated Memorial Day as residents. They marched in a parade on a gorgeous Memorial Day 2008 to three very important monuments: Doughboy Park for WWI war veterans, a Vietnam War monument, and the St. Sebastian War Veterans Post Monument.

Some of the organizations that marched were the St. Sebastian Catholic War Veterans Organization, and Woodside on The Move. Some local political leaders came out as well including City Councilmember Eric Gioia and Assemblymember Marge Markey. Representing Woodside on The Move were Director Rosa Reyes, President Mike Mc Sweeny and Nicole Albergo-Wright, academic instructor at P.S. 152. After the parade those who marched were invited to a barbecue at the Catholic War Veterans post, where they were served hot dogs, corn, hamburgers, salad and other goodies.- Nicole Albergo-Wright
