I.S. 10, the Horace Greeley School, staged its third annual spring musical, "Seussical Junior", on Thursday and Friday, May 15 and 16, with a 6 p.m. performance each evening. Christina Sussman and Nancy DePoalo were director and co-director, respectively. "Seussical Junior", based on the works of Theodore Geisel, known to the world as children's author Dr. Seuss, combines elements of The Cat in the Hat, Horton Hears a Who, Horton Hatches The Egg, Gertrude McFuzz, If I Ran the Circus, McElligot's Pool and I had Trouble Getting to Solla Sollew. Sussman and DePoalo chose "Seussical Junior" because, according to the show's program notes, "The subject matter resonates with any middle school student," Sussman and DePoalo maintain. Sussman and DePoalo previously staged "Annie" and "Guys and Dolls" at I.S. 10.
