Performing Arts At St. John's Prep
The St. John's Prep Modern Dance Ensemble performed at the St. John's Prep Spring Concert May 10. The St. John's Prep Spring Concert, dedicated to the graduating senior class of 2008, took place on Saturday, May 10, with performances by the Gospel Choir, Mixed Chorus, Beginning Bands, Jazz Lab Band, Jazz Rock Band, Symphonic Band, Modern Dance Ensemble, Spanish Dance team and the African Dance Club.
Earlier this spring, the St. John's Prep Theater Company presented "Blues In Toyland: A New York City Fairy Tale" on April 25 and 26. The production, conceived many months before the curtain went up, was brought to life by a spirited and generous team of young actors. On the morning of the show's opening, cast and crew gathered for Mass celebrated by Rev. Gilley and together prayed for the success of their endeavor. Later, the audience left the performance with their spirits uplifted and songs on their lips.
The Gospel Choir gave voice to sacred music. The Mixed Chorus harmonized to old favorites and new selections. The African Dance Club brought exciting moves to the St. John's Prep stage. A couple from the Spanish Dance Team demonstrated a dance figure. Music Director David Cox conducted the St. John's Prep Spring Concert May 10. The cast of "Blues In Toyland: A New York City Fairy Tale" returned to the stage after the performance for a curtain call. |
