The vast selection of international dishes at Home Select Buffet promises something for everyone, and it's all fresh and beautifully presented for the taking. Located in the LaGuardia Shopping Center on Ditmars Blvd, Home SelectBuffet has one of the largest buffets in Queens, with over 150 items made fresh daily. Best of all, the low price of $13.95 for dinner on weekdays and $15.95 on weekends, makes this "all you can eat" buffet a great deal for everyone, especially families, since children's dinners cost only $6.95 on weekdays.

The spacious dining room is a great place for a family lunch or dinner and Kevin Chen, your amiable host, is always on hand to ensure a pleasant meal. The efficient wait staff will bring you soda, wine or beer for a nominal charge and they also remove your empty plates after each visit to the buffet.

Chen has his chefs prepare new and exciting dishes to please his steady clientele. Home Select Buffet includes soups, salads, hot and cold appetizers, main courses, vegetables, kid's favorites, fresh fruit, pastries and yummy desserts. The sushi bar features fresh sushi, sashimi and rolls made right in front of you. I loved the tempura roll, dragon roll with tender eel, the spicy tuna roll and supremely fresh sashimi and tuna. The raw bar also features boiled shrimp, fresh oysters and clams on the half shell. Just past the sushi bar, the carving station boasts freshly roasted prime rib of beef and Peking Duck. Tender slices of duck are tucked into a steamed pancake along with vegetables and tangy sauce to create a real Chinese delicacy. The adjacent grill cooks up steak, spareribs and more, upon request.

You can start with a bowl of steaming soup and with selections such as won ton, oxtail, hot and sour, American chicken noodle and clam chowder, you'll find your favorite. Tender steamed dumplings, dim sum and shumai pork dumplings are served from a bamboo basket to keep them moist and hot. An assortment of salads includes Caesar, crab salad, carrot salad and cole slaw.

Dozens of main courses, including fresh fish, shrimp, meat, poultry and noodles make choosing difficult. The beauty of a buffet is that you can try just a little bit of all your favorites. You'll find baked salmon with herbs, blue snapper, spicy shrimp, king crab legs and baked clams. Baked chicken, short ribs of beef, and braised lamb shank are some of the popular new items. Sesame chicken or spicy Malaysian chicken go well with lo mein noodles or wild rice.

The kids will love chicken tenders, fried shrimp, ravioli, spaghetti and, of course, the tempting dessert bar. In addition to the chocolate pudding, rice pudding, cakes, cookies and pastries, you'll also find delicious fresh fruit, including sliced watermelon, cantaloupe, grapes and more.

Home Select Buffet is a great place for a private party in their beautifully appointed private room that can accommodate up to 200 people. Parties can run late in the evening and there's plenty of room for a d.j. and dancing. Your next affair is sure to be a success with a great selection of international foods and entertainment provided by a built-in karaoke station. Consider it for your next business luncheon or dinner, graduation or birthday party.

Home Select Buffet is open seven days a week from 11 a.m. till 10 p.m (11:00p.m. on weekends). On Saturdays and Sundays, brunch items have been added to the already extensive buffet, so you can now enjoy pancakes, waffles, western omelets, sausages, hash browns and oatmeal to start your weekend off. You can take your order to go, and pay just $4.99 per pound for dinner. Credit cards are accepted. Home Select Buffet has something for everyone seven days a week, for lunch, dinner and weekend brunch.
