Lawmakers Join In Greek Independence Day Parade
      New York City's annual Greek Independence Day Parade celebrates Greece's independence from the Ottoman Empire. This year's parade was held Sunday, April 6 on Fifth Avenue in Manhattan. Among those marching was Assemblymember Michael Gianaris (D-Queens), the first Greek-American elected official from New York. Also marching were New York City Councilmember Peter Vallone Jr.

Wedding Reception Was A Knockout
      Some 200 guests evacuated a wedding reception at Dante's Catering Hall in East Elmhurst on April 6 after carbon monoxide fumes overcame them. Fire officials said they thought a faulty boiler at the catering hall at 75-07 31st Ave. might have leaked the colorless, odorless fumes putting an end to the wedding celebration.
