City Councilmembers Peter Vallone Jr. and Melinda Katz. On Wednesday February 20, City Councilmember Melinda Katz addressed members of the Aldos Democratic Organization at the club's meeting hall, 28-11 23rd Ave., Astoria. The regular meeting was also attended by Astoria District Leader George Napolitano, Community Board 1 District Manager George Delis and Councilmember Peter Vallone Jr., who introduced Katz to the more than 30 members in attendance. Katz spoke about her responsibilities as chair of the council Land Use Committee, concerned with issues related to the city's growing infrastructure and development. She also indicated that she was a candidate for the city Comptroller position that due to term limits will become vacant in 2009.

"Ms. Katz is probably one the most dynamic speakers to speak at the Aldos. She really made me feel as if she was speaking to me personally. She was very knowledgeable on many of the city's issues and actually showed us how they impacted her in her day-to-day life," Susanna Nasal said.
