SANTA FE STEAKHOUSE 14 YEARS AND GOING STRONG
107-18 70th Road • Forest Hills • 718.459.4040
For 14 years, Santa Fe Steakhouse on Restaurant Row (70th Road) in Forest Hills, has been a great place for friends and family to gather for the very finest steaks, ribs, chicken and lots more. Santa Fe Steakhouse wants to thank all of its steady clientele for their overwhelming concern regarding the impending construction project that is to begin on 70th Road. They are happy to announce that Santa Fe Steakhouse has no affiliation with the project and will continue to serve its customers for years to come with the same high quality, consistently delicious Southwestern style cuisine it has always proudly served.
Relax before you sink into dinner with one of Santa Fe Steakhouse's signature cocktails. These specially mixed concoctions include a selection of straight-up or frozen margaritas, served in tall, frosty glasses, and mojitos made with classic mint leaves, mango, passion fruit or pineapple, all served in tall, 11-ounce glasses. A classic margarita gets a twist from fresh pomegranate juice, or try a Santa Fe Sling, shaken with rum and a touch of cherry brandy. Classic martinis, a Forest Hills Cosmo or a selection of over twenty beers can be enjoyed at the friendly, mature bar, or at your comfortable booth or table.
Everything from the salsa to the soup to the desserts are house made with the finest, freshest ingredients. Best of all, Santa Fe's prices have remained unchanged for 2 years, so hurry up and take advantage of the values. The menu suggests you graze on some of Santa Fe's fantastic appetizers such as Apache coconut shrimp, plump and fresh, breaded by hand with a delicious coconut batter, then fried till crispy and golden brown. A zesty dipping sauce comes on the side ($8.95). There is a closely-held secret to the crunch of the fried calamari, but they are some of the most tender, crispy rings you'll try. Santa Fe's "wild onion" is something the whole table of diners can enjoy. This enormous, sweet onion is deep fried in a crunchy batter so everyone can pick off sections of it and dip it into the wonderful horseradish sauce that accompanies it. Coyote quesadillas can be filled with Monterey Jack cheese, chicken and grilled shrimp as you desire, all perfect for sharing. If you prefer to munch at the bar, get a platter of Nachos Fantastico with lots of fresh, flavorful toppings.
The staff at Santa Fe Steakhouse is both friendly and efficient, and cater to families with children. Monica described the special "cowboy" steak, which was a 20-ounce rib-eye steak on the bone. The menu offers their signature prime rib in both 12-ounce and 16-ounce cuts, slow roasted the Santa Fe way. The surf and turf combines sirloin steak that has been double-wrapped in bacon with two stuffed lobster tails for the ultimate indulgence. Even the juicy, freshly ground burgers are a treat, weighing in at half a pound.
Santa Fe Steakhouse's baby back ribs are outstanding. These are meaty ribs, which can be eaten with a knife and fork, are so succulent, the meat surrenders easily from the juicy bones. The tangy, slightly smoky sauce is the perfect complement to the savory ribs and they can be ordered alone in half or full racks ($17.95/$22.95), or paired up with one of their original chicken dishes ($19.95 and up). Sierra chicken is a tender, boneless chicken breast cooked on the fire and served with plum wine sauce and grilled pineapple, while Sagebrush chicken is flame broiled and smothered with mushrooms, bacon and two kinds of cheese. If you long for summer, traditional back yard BBQ chicken is a half chicken basted and slow-cooked in their famous sauce and served with homemade corn bread. These delicious entrées come with a choice of house or Caesar salad and a choice of sides such as Southwestern rice, sweet potato fries, mashed potatoes or steamed vegetables. Eat light with Blackened catfish or River Bay salmon, lightly coated with a honey lemon glaze ($17.95).
Santa Fe Steakhouse has perfected dessert with their Mexican fried ice cream, famous hot Mexican apple crisp and chocolate chip cookie sundae. The coffee is as robust as their entrées and everyone will have a great time here. Santa Fe Steakhouse's food is consistently fresh, of the highest quality, and always outstandingly delicious. The service is friendly and efficient and the cleanliness of the restaurant and restrooms is exemplary.
