York College men's basketball player Aaron Wilson has been named to the Metropolitan Basketball Writers Association (MBWA) Honor Roll for the Week of January 21.

Wilson, a junior guard, was lights out from the field in two victories for York last week. In a 71-51 win over CCNY, Wilson was a perfect 10-10 from the field, including 3-3 from threepoint range on his way to netting a game-high 19 points. On Friday, in a 76-59 triumph over John Jay College, Wilson scored a game-high 23 points on 8-12 shooting, all while playing just 23 minutes.

On the season, Wilson is averaging 14.5 points per game and is shooting 50.9 percent from the field.

Founded for the 2004-05 season, the Player of the Week Award is granted on a weekly basis by the New York Area Metropolitan Basketball Writers Association. Each week, each of the nearly 75 schools that play college basketball in the tri-state area can nominate one male and one female student-athlete, based upon their oncourt accomplishments over the previous seven days. A panel of eight members of the media votes to select the most outstanding player from the nominations. Any player who receives any votes, but is not named the Player of the Week, is then named to the Honor Roll.

York, 13-6, 6-2 in the CUNYAC, will visit conference foe Brooklyn College on Saturday, January 26 at 3 p.m.
