Lady Cardinals Downed By Rutgers

The York College women's basketball team fell to
Rutgers-Newark, 58-32, in a non-conference matchup
on Wednesday night, December 12. The loss drops the Lady Cardinals' record to 4-7 on the season.
The Lady Cardinals got out to an early 6-2 lead when Della Jean-Louis connected on a lay-up with 16:12 left in the first half. However, shortly after, Rutgers-Newark went on an 11-0 run, which gave them a 20-8 lead. Rutgers-Newark extended their lead to as many as 19 points and led 35-16 going into the locker room.
In the second half, Rutgers-Newark continued to extend their lead and led by as many as 29 points before eventually winning 58-32.
Delores Maeweather led York with 10 points, despite only playing in the second half. Jean-Louis finished with nine points and Elizabeth Padilla netted seven points and grabbed four rebounds.
The Lady Cardinals will be idle for Christmas break and will return to action on January 3 when they host Baruch at 6 p.m.
