York College Women Take It
The York College women's basketball team got off to a strong start in their conference schedule as they defeated Brooklyn College, 65-53, on Tuesday, December 4. The Lady Cardinals improved to 3-4, 1-0 in the City University of New York Athletic Conference (CUNYAC).

After falling behind, 10-6, in the early going, York went on an 11-1 run to take a 17-11 advantage with 9:00 before halftime. Brooklyn was able to cut the lead to 19-17 but York responded once again, outscoring the Bridges 12-2 over the final eight minutes of the half to take a 31-19 lead into the locker room.
York took their biggest lead of the game at the 16:26 mark in the second half when Niya Jarvis connected on lay-up to give the Lady Cardinals a 35-19 margin. Brooklyn could get as close as only six points the rest of the way as York pulled away down the stretch, thanks to solid free throw shooting.
Freshman Maimouna Dabo continued her strong play as she led all scorers with 20 points, while dishing out five assists. Jarvis was a force on the glass as she pulled down a career-high 15 rebounds and netted eight points. Delores Maeweather paced York with 14 points.
