Shoeboxes of Love

Last month, for the 11th consecutive year, students at Evangel Christian School packed shoeboxes with toys, candy, school supplies and toiletries for donation to needy children throughout the world.

Eighth-grade students at the Long Island City school organized a bake sale, which raised $120 for postage. In all, 313 shoeboxes were delivered to the "Operation Christmas Child", collection center in Flushing, where they will be shipped and distributed through Samaritan's Place, an international Christian relief program that assists children suffering from poverty, illness, neglect or other disastrous occurrence.- Liz Goff
