HELPING HAND ON THANKSGIVING:
As part of their celebration of Thanksgiving Day, Councilmember Hiram Monserrate, Assemblymember Jose Peralta and Corona-area businessmen fulfilled their promise to the victims of Hurricane Noel in the Dominican Republic by shipping $5,000 worth of canned and dry goods to the Caribbean nation.

The two lawmakers personally delivered the goods to the Monumental Shipping Company, 103-10 Astoria Blvd., and loaded them on to a shipping container for delivery to the Dominican Republic citizens.

Gotham City Mortgage in Queens was a major contributor to the relief effort, the lawmakers said.
