Clean-up At Oakland Lake & Ravine Nov. 17

On Saturday, November 17 from10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., park lovers of all ages are welcome to join the Martin Van Buren H.S. honor students and Friends of Oakland Lake and Ravine plant bulbs, flowers and shrubs, collect litter and learn about the environment and history of Oakland Lake.

Parents, siblings, all children and young adults ages 6 to 17 are invited to participate- certificates for volunteer community service credit will be granted. Participants will receive a copy of The History and Ecology of Little Neck Bay by Dr. Aline Euler of the Alley Pond Environmental Center (APEC), an educational primer on past and ongoing efforts to protect Little Neck Bay and the surrounding watershed, including Oakland Lake.
