Mount Sinai Hospital Of Queens To Hold Town Hall third annual Town Hall meeting on Thursday, October 18, from 7 to 9 p.m. The meeting will center on "Health and Hospitals Initiatives" and is co-sponsored by the United Community Civic Association (UCCA). It will take place at the Museum of the Moving Image, 35th Avenue at 36th Street in Long Island City. Local and city elected officials, including Congressmembers Carolyn Maloney and Joseph Crowley, Borough President Helen Marshall, City Councilmembers Peter Vallone Jr. and Helen Sears, Assemblymember Michael Gianaris and state Senator George Onorato have been invited to participate. "This event allows our hospital to demonstrate our commitment to caring for our community. As importantly, it also provides our neighbors a chance to ask questions about what is happening in health care today. It is important for us as a hospital to hear their thoughts," Caryn Schwab, Mount Sinai Hospital of Queens CEO, said. "We are proud of our long partnership with Mount Sinai Hospital of Queens and applaud their efforts to keep the community informed in proactive and interactive ways, such as these Town Halls," Rose Marie Poveromo, United Community Civic Association president, said. The evening's agenda will include a presentation on vital improvements that the hospital has made over the past year. The hospital will also report on upcoming projects, including information technology, quality improvements among the medical staff, a comprehensive campaign for service improvement and other new programs for patients. Mount Sinai Hospital of Queens is a 235-bed community hospital located in Long Island City. It was purchased by Mount Sinai Hospital in June 1999. The hospital serves the communities of Western Queens and beyond with a medical staff of nearly 400 physicians representing 36 medical and surgical specialties. |
